The Nigerian Activist, Aisha Yesufu has been listed among the BBC’s list of 100 most inspiring and influential women from around the world for 2020. Aisha has been recognized for unrelenting effort in ensuring that the rights of Nigerians are not denied them, and also in calling out the government anytime it fails in its duty.
Aisha Yesufu who also joined the youths on the street during #EndSars protest has now been recognized for her efforts and exploits in the fight for human rights and administrative transparency in the government.
Yesufu was recognized for her exploits during the bring back our girls campaign, and her effort over the years in demanding good governance for Nigerians. Her records include always being at the forefront of fighting injustice and fighting for freedom. Most of her admirers see her as an epitome of what the girl child should aim to be, the perfect role model for the younger generation.
In her statement after the recognition, Aisha said, “It is an honour and a humbling experience to be amongst @BBC100women. My fellow Nigerians, this is for you! I AM BECAUSE WE ARE!
One day we will have a Nation where all lives matter and the child of nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody.”
